The Grinning Frog

QUICK LINKS: The Campaign / The Stretch Goals / The Rewards / The Add-Ons / The FAQ

Welcome!

The Grinning Frog is back with the next issues of it's monthly RPG magazine:

Full of system-neutral content it is entirely compatible with 5e and all other RPG systems.

The content is story focused with powers and power levels described in prose. By avoiding mechanics we give you the freedom to interpret the content we share as best suits you, your game system and gaming group. The magazine is fully illustrated with art from many sources including industry leading professionals.

campaign image 3Featuring an indepth look at all things 'relationship' we offer advice on how to incorporate them into your RPG games, how to use them to easily create story lines and adventures. We also present some great NPC couples including a witch and her talking fox, an unlucky knight and the lady who saves him, a widow and her ghost husband and more.

We discuss relationship types, look at archetype couples as well as presenting some new magic items, creatures, story hooks and more. A full list of contents is show below with the tier pledge details.

We missed January so we thought we'd include that issue into this campaign.

campaign image 6This issue sees us exploring the shadowrealm - also known as the shadow dimension, shadowfell etc. Who lives there, and what's it like? Answers inside!

Along with new creatures, story hooks, NPCs and advice on making YOUR version of the shadowrealm unique. A full list of contents is show below with the tier pledge details.

March is almost upon us and we are drafting up that issue as I speak...

campaign image 9Exploring the hellscape full of fiendish demons, devils and cultists. We are still in the drafting process but we've already written the interview with a demon queen who seduced an angel... draft up some devil dog creatures and we have stockpiled some amazing art for this issue.

Expect all the usual story hooks, NPCs, things to see and other content. It will be 52 pages.

DIGITAL AND PRINT

After testing the waters back in December we have decided to produce the magazine in both digital and physical format. We expect more people to want it digitally so for now the printed copies will be limited to 25 copies per issue and are available as an add on with your digital issues. If postage isn't shown for your region drop us a note and we will calculate it and let you know before you pledge.

Seeing the magazine in print is quite amazing and we've had incredibly good feedback from everyone who's received a copy.

Digital fulfilment for issue 8 and issue 9 will happen immediately the campaign ends.

Issue 10 will be out later in March. The file will become available through Game on Tabletop and we will post an update, and email all backers, when it is available to download.

We will also upload copies to DrivethruRPG and backers can have a free download copy for it there if they so wish.

SUBSCRIBE AND SAVE

We are offering six and twelve month digital subscription bundles. We value that upfront commitment and give back by providing you with excellent savings when you chose that option!

WHAT IF YOU WANT JUST TWO ISSUES?

It might be that you want two out of the three issues listed here, to do that, pick either of the ones you are interested in and click select. On the next page you confirm your selection and on the next page (Add-on page) you can scroll down and select the other issue. (Sounds complicated but it's not!)

You can learn more about the people behind the magazine at www.thegrinningfrog.com but in brief we have been publishing roleplay material on DMsGuild and DrivethruRPG for several years. This year we started crowdfunding more ambitious projects including this magazine, adventures and a printed guide for games masters.

We have run over twelve crowdsourcing campaigns since March 2020 and they have all been successful and they have all either been fulfilled or are on schedule to be.

We have had excellent feedback from our customers and we are delighted that many people who start with a single issue have gone on to become annual subscribers with us and purchased our other content.

We have been awarded the Kickstarter 'Backer Favourite' status which is a badge denoting that we are 'A creator who has a proven positive track record with their backers, from past Kickstarter campaigns.'

We now bring the same level of professionalism and care to Game on Tabletop.

Because we personally play multiple games and systems and so do virtually all the DMs and GMs that we know. By making it system free we can focus on strong storytelling without getting hung up on the mechanics and conversions across game systems.

And, let's face it. If we featured even the top three fantasy RPG's that would only leave out a whole bunch of others.

So, we are embracing them all with clever, interesting, story-rich material that people can easily convert to their desired system. We receive constantly good feedback that our material is almost instantly usable in a wide range of game systems.

Great RPG's are built on the stories that unfold at the table based on the material the DM/GM brings to it. We aim to provide material that can be used in lots of ways.

We have an inclusivity statement in each publication. We state clearly that we strive to represent the vast richness of humanity in all it's many and varied types. We also love to break down clichés and we will happily present you with a cowardly dragon or art loving minotaur if it fits the story we are writing.

Indeed, a recurring character in our adventures is a minotaur named Rutus - he designs traps and delights in killing the weak and foolish who can't overcome them. He is also an accomplished artist, loves his dog, misses his best mate who's MIA and appreciates a good pint. We strive for real three dimensional characters.

We also offer our material with the honest hope and wish that you can change anything we present to better represent the world you want to game through.

Yes you can, and they will give you a good idea of what we do.

Visit https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/thegrinningfrog and have a browse, they are all open to view.

Or check out our first Game on Tabletop campaign which can be found here https://www.gameontabletop.com/cf456/the-oracle-rpg-magazine-7.html

When we launched the magazine in June we called it the Dungeon Master's Adventure Pack. We rebranded in November. Currently we are working through the old issues and reformating them. Should you want the earlier issues then you can find them at www.thegrinningfrog.com in the shop. We will release them again in their new format in a crowdfunding campaign in the future.
