Willkommen in Redwood Hills
(english below)

Was ist Don’t Split Up?

Wann kommt mein Don’t Split Up bei mir an?

Welcome to Redwood Hills

Weird noises in the basement, creepy lights in the woods, or that cursed VHS tape you definitely shouldn’t have watched – teens in the ’80s and ’90s had endless, horrifying ways to vanish before prom night. Clichés? Oh yeah, we’re swimming in them. In Don’t Split Up, clichés are your best friend! Grab a flashlight, crank up your Walkman, and run like something’s right behind you … because it probably is!

What is Don’t Split Up?

Don’t Split Up is a horror survival roleplaying game for 3 to 6 fearless players. Together with your fellow survivors-to-be, you slip into the gloriously cliché roles of teenagers. As a group, you create stories that follow the twisted logic of horror movies from the 1980s and 1990s. The focus of Don’t Split Up is clearly on one-shots with virtually no prep time. It is a roleplaying game you can pull off the shelf and jump straight into.

How to play Don’t Split Up?

At the start of the game, you and your group create your characters known as Survivors: You choose one of the eight ID cards included in the base game, as well as a classic horror-movie cliché (your character class). Both are placed on your Survivor Sheet. You quickly assign your few stats, skills, and traits. Don’t worry, it’s fast… after all, you may not live long anyway.

After that, the group creates their version of Redwood Hills – the place where your horror story will unfold. A sleepy little town in the middle of nowhere, a boarding school in New England, or a summer camp tucked away in the Rocky Mountains. Redwood Hills can be any of these (and all equally doomed). Once you’ve settled on your Redwood Hills, you work together to define interesting locations and story hooks that will help kick your nightmare into motion.

How do the rules work?

As in many other roleplaying games, dice decide whether your Survivors overcome their challenges in Don’t Split Up. The system is built around four-sided dice (d4s) and designed to keep the spotlight firmly on the story. Success isn’t just a yes-or-no outcome here. The degree of success matters: depending on how well (or disastrously) you roll, the story gains either positive twists… or grim surprises that make everything worse.

What do I get through the crowdfunding?

Our crowdfunding campaign is here to bring Don’t Split Up to life. We’re starting small, but with the first stretch goals, the base game will be upgraded step by step.

The base game will include the Don’t Split Up rulebook (approx. 56 pages), six reusable Survivor Sheets, one Redwood Hills sheet, and 32 game cards. These cards consist of eight ID cards, eight clichés, and sixteen Hidden Agendas.

The more stretch goals we unlock, the more genre-specific tools, new scenarios, and additional horrors will expand Don’t Split Up. And of course, all rewards offered during the crowdfunding campaign will be cheaper than the final retail version.

Depending on your chosen reward tier and add-ons, you may also receive exclusive items that will never be available in stores.

When will Don’t Split Up arrive at my doorstep?

We are aiming for a release by October 2026 at the latest—just in time for you to summon your friends for a proper Halloween horror session. We’ve set a conservative timeline, since the final release date heavily depends on how many stretch goals are unlocked during the campaign. Many of these goals include up to 32 additional artworks each, which must first be fully illustrated before your nightmare can begin.

For Don’t Split Up, we’re collaborating with artists whose work we truly admire—and who you may already know from other games we’ve published. Returning to the team is Stephanie “Schiraki” Bünger, joined this time by Susanne Weise, who has previously illustrated for the HT-Verlag fantasy roleplaying game Mythaloria.

The final products may differ in appearance from the images shown here due to display variations (such as color differences) or production-related reasons. In addition, many of the artworks are still in progress.

If you want to keep up with every bit of news from Redwood Hills make sure you’ve checked “I would like to be informed about project news via email” in your profile settings. You can do this anytime, even after you’ve backed the project. If you skip that, you’ll only get the truly vital messages… like when your delivery is on its way or if something unexpected causes a delay.

Unfortunately, Swiss tax regulations make it economically unfeasible for us to ship to Switzerland. If you know someone in Germany, you can have your rewards sent to their address instead.

Due to the situation after Brexit, it’s unfortunately not economically viable for us to ship to the UK. If you know someone in Germany, you could have your rewards sent to their address instead.
